1-3 YEAR FOUNDATION PROGRAM
Hjo Art School
- Free art

We are not like other art schools!

PROFILE
It's easy to lose site of yourself while in a learning environment. We try to avoid that. You, and the experiences you bring with you, are the foundation of our work. We offer you plenty of space for your individuality so that you can develop at your own pace.

Through continuous dialogs with your teachers, you are presented with ideas for developing the techniques you find most interesting at the moment.

PAINTING
Studies in painting occur with short theoretical critiques and demonstrations of mediums and techniques in oil, tempera, watercolour and acrylic. The remaining time and energy is spent on individual guidance.

LIFE DRAWING
Life drawing and painting are scheduled regularly.

SCULPTURE
Sculpture is scheduled according to student interest. We study the most fundamental mediums: plaster and clay. Other materials are also explored, where your personal ideas and solutions are encouraged, often in connection to projects using mixed medias.

PRINTMAKING
Printmaking is an obligatory part of your studies. You will learn the foundations of printmaking; dry point, woodcut, linoleum cut, intaglio, artist's books as well as computer and photo-based printmaking. You can then choose to further explore the printmaking process. We provide you with the tools you need to develop your feeling and understanding of printmaking as you discover you own personal expression.

ART HISTORY
We have an on-going dialog analysing art from historical and modern perspectives as well as the traditions we live in. We visit art exhibits and make at least one study trip once a year.

STUDENT EXHIBIT
At the end of the year a student show is arranged in which all our students participate.
